About the role

In our Innovation Team we do research for sustainable technologies. Most of our project activities are within the energy sector, where we develop sustainable systems for generating, converting and storing energy using mechanical, thermodynamic and chemical working principles. The research and test installations for these projects vary in size from a few hundred watts up to several tens of kilowatts of installed power. For an expansion of our activities and a planned new lab, we are looking to strengthen our Innovation Team with an Engine Innovation Engineer who works on developing cleaner combustion strategies with new generation biofuels and e-fuels.

Responsibilities

As an Engine Innovation Engineer, you spend your time with …

• … performing literature reviews, making models and simulations, collecting and analyzing data, and writing reports for the development of new combustion engines;
• … setting up and managing an engine test lab, suitable for both quick and elaborate setups and tests;
• … planning research activities, setting research goals and propose new directions;
• … working together with our Prototyping and Engineering Teams to realize proof-of-concepts and test platforms.

Requirements

Experience & competencies

We are therefore looking for someone with …

• … PhD thinking level in an engineering discipline related to engine technology, a broad technical interest and motivated by sustainability;
• … in-depth knowledge in combustion kinetics and thermodynamics, engine designs and compatibility with biofuels and e-fuels
• … experience with research activities in an engine testing facility;
• … experience with programming models/simulations, for example in Python or Matlab, as well as more dedicated software;
• … fluent English proficiency.
