A breakdown on the line means downtime, and downtime costs money. You are the one who gets there first — electrically, mechanically or hydraulically. Four days on, three days off. For a plant-based meat producer in Udenhout, we are looking for a Maintenance Technician.

You will be working for a producer of plant-based meat alternatives in Udenhout. Plant-based protein is one of the fastest-growing categories in the food industry, and it shows here: production is highly automated and the machine park is continuously expanded and adapted to new products.

Extrusion and processing lines, conveyor systems, packaging machinery and cooling technology all operate as one continuous process. That makes technical work a precondition rather than a support function — when a machine stops, the line stops. And because producing plant-based protein is technically more complex than many traditional food processes, the work is more demanding than average food maintenance.

The maintenance department is a compact team of technicians responsible for the entire machine park. Short lines of communication, quick decisions, direct contact with production management. You will work to strict hygiene and safety standards, which means your solutions need to be technically sound as well as compliant with food industry requirements.

What else sets this employer apart is the schedule: four days of ten hours, day shift only. No rotating shifts, no nights. Three fixed days off every week. For a technical role at this level, that is unusual.

As a Maintenance Technician you are the point of contact for anything that can go wrong in production. The largest part of your work is breakdown response: a report comes in, you determine what is happening, and you fix it. Speed matters, but diagnosis is the real work — a failing sensor, a jammed drive and a hydraulic circuit losing pressure often look identical in the initial report.

The emphasis is on electrical work: control systems, sensors, drives, control panels and frequency inverters. Alongside this you carry out mechanical work on conveyor and processing components, and you deal with hydraulic systems. You do not need to be a specialist in all three, but you do need to be able to make progress in all three.

Besides resolving breakdowns you carry out preventive maintenance according to the maintenance schedule, and you work on preventing recurrence. If you see the same machine failing at the same point every month, you are expected to raise it and address it — not to restart it every month. As the product range grows, you also contribute to modifications and expansions of existing lines.

Your responsibilities:

• Analysing and resolving breakdowns on the production lines
• Electrical work on control systems, sensors and drives
• Mechanical and hydraulic maintenance on machinery and conveyor systems
• Carrying out preventive maintenance according to schedule
• Identifying recurring faults and resolving them structurally
• Recording work and findings in the maintenance system

• Demonstrable experience as a maintenance technician, preferably in a production environment
• A strong electrical foundation, combined with mechanical and hydraulic understanding
• You work independently, prioritise quickly and stay calm when the line is down
• You are able to work to strict hygiene and safety standards in a food production environment
• Good command of the Dutch and/or English language (spoken and written)

• Gross hourly wage of €17.00 to €22.00 per hour, depending on your experience and technical level

• 5.77% ADV allowance on top of your basic gross hourly wage

• Overtime allowance in accordance with the CAO Gemaksvoedingindustrie, calculated on your basic hourly wage

• 8% holiday allowance, paid out weekly

• Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometre

• Weekly salary payments

• 25 days of annual leave based on full-time employment

• Pension accrual: 23.4% of the pension base

• A 40-hour working week: 4 days of 10 hours on day shift, with three fixed days off per week

• After 12 months, the opportunity for a permanent contract with the client
