Civil Engineering Truck Driver CE

Heavy equipment, changing construction sites, and an employer who wants you for the long term. As a CE driver in civil engineering, you go where ordinary trucks get stuck, and you keep your own vehicle in top condition.

You'll join a transport company that drives for the civil engineering and infrastructure sector. The equipment is heavy and varied: four-axle all-wheel-drive trucks, tipper trailers, and truck-mounted cranes. The work takes you to construction sites and project locations, where you work alongside supervisors and machine operators to keep the job moving. No office routine, but being outside, getting stuck in, and making sure the build keeps running.

It's a practical company with short lines of communication. You hear quickly where you're needed, and you get the freedom to organize your own day. What's expected of you is clear: on time, safe, and with a clean, well-maintained vehicle.

There's work for the long term. The company isn't looking for a stepping stone, but for a driver who stays, knows the vehicle, and takes good care of it.

As a CE driver, you operate heavy equipment for civil engineering and infrastructure projects. You transport materials and bulk goods to and from construction sites, and you load and unload yourself. Which vehicle you end up on is matched to your experience: from a four-axle all-wheel-drive truck that goes onto ground where an ordinary truck stops, to a tipper trailer or a truck-mounted crane.

You're responsible for the vehicle you drive. Daily maintenance, keeping it clean, and detecting and fixing minor faults yourself are part of the job — you're the first to notice when something isn't right. On site you work among machines and people, so loading, unloading, and manoeuvring safely is not optional.

During the winter period, you're deployed for road de-icing. That means irregular hours and sometimes going out at night when the weather calls for it.

Be clear about the hours: this is not an eight-to-five job. Evenings, nights, and weekends are part of it, and sometimes you stay overnight on the road. A VCA basic safety certificate is a plus, but not a must — if you don't have one, it can be arranged.

• Driving license category CE, with Code 95, valid within the EU
• A few years of experience as a driver and knowledge of civil engineering work
• Experience with heavy equipment and driving on construction sites
• Flexible and resilient: available for evening, night, and weekend shifts and willing to stay overnight on the road
• In possession of an EU passport — a residence permit is not sufficient

• A 40-hour work week, the opportunity to work overtime and earn extra
• Base gross hourly wage of €20.24
• Allowances for evening, night, and weekend work in accordance with the Road Transport CAO
• Allowance for overnight stays on the road in accordance with the Road Transport CAO
• Overtime allowance in accordance with the Road Transport CAO, calculated over your base hourly wage of €20.24
• 8% holiday allowance, paid weekly
• Travel allowance of €0.23 per kilometer
• Weekly salary payment
• 25 vacation days, age-dependent in accordance with the CAO
• Pension accrual: 23.4% of the pension base
• Standard 40-hour workweek. Overtime up to 60 hours possible.
