About Simply Green
Simply Green is a fast-growing B2B ecommerce wholesaler operating across Europe. Approximately 90% of our revenue is generated through our website, with the majority of orders paid before shipment. This creates a finance environment that is high-volume, system-driven, and process-led, rather than manual or invoice-heavy.
The business is currently at a scale-up stage, with revenue in the mid–teens and a clear growth trajectory towards €30m+. This stage of growth brings increasing complexity across systems, processes, reporting, and commercial decision-making — and requires a finance function that is robust, accurate, and forward-looking.
Looking ahead, Simply Green will transition into a group structure in 2026, with multiple entities operating under a single group umbrella. From 2027 onward, there is a clear ambition to pursue strategic acquisitions, further increasing the scope and importance of this role.
As the business has scaled, we are evolving our finance function. We are replacing our Finance Administrator role with a hands-on Financial Controller who will take full ownership of our financial operations, P&L and Balance Sheet integrity, and all supporting finance processes.
External accountants support Simply Green with statutory year-end closing, VAT returns, corporate tax filings, and strategic tax advice. All day-to-day finance ownership sits with this role.
The Role
The Financial Controller will be the most senior finance role within Simply Green and will be responsible for ensuring that the company’s financial records are accurate, well-controlled, and fit for a growing ecommerce business.
This is a hands-on role. While systems and automation play a key part in our finance setup, this position requires someone who is comfortable owning the detail, understanding the underlying data flows, and ensuring everything is booked correctly.

- Line manager: COO
- Close working relationship with the CEO
- No CFO role at present
Financial Ownership
- Own the day-to-day accuracy and integrity of the Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet.
- Ensure all transactions are booked correctly, consistently, and to the correct accounts, entities, classes, and segments.
- Own and control inter-company billing, recharges, and allocations, ensuring balances reconcile and are consistently applied across group entities.
- Maintain continuous Balance Sheet control through structured reconciliations.
Month-End & Management Reporting
- Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, Balance Sheet, cash position).
- Deliver variance analysis and clear commentary against budget and prior periods.
- Act as the internal finance owner providing clean, complete data to external accountants for statutory close.
Transactional Finance & Controls
- Oversee and manage:
- Customer credits and adjustments
- Vendor bills and payments
- Bank and payment service provider (PSP) reconciliations
- Use NetSuite and tools such as Zone to automate matching of payments and vendor bills, while retaining full control and oversight.
- Design, document, and maintain internal controls suitable for a high-volume ecommerce environment.
Systems & Process Ownership
- Own finance processes within NetSuite (experience preferred but not essential).
- Ensure finance workflows are scalable, documented, and resilient.
- Work closely with Operations, Ecommerce, and Commercial teams to ensure clean and accurate data flows from order creation through to the general ledger.
Commercial & Profitability Analysis
- Analyse and report on:
- Product-level profitability
- Vendor margins
- Customer and channel profitability
- Support forecasting, cash-flow planning, and scenario analysis.
- Provide financial insight that actively supports commercial and operational decision-making.
External Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary internal contact for external accountants and auditors.
- Ensure information provided externally is accurate, timely and well-structured.
Finance Policies & Business Professionalisation
- Support the ongoing professionalisation of company-wide financial policies and benefits.
Future Team Growth
This is currently a stand-alone Financial Controller role with no direct reports.
